Somewhere in America, Dr. Holden Just Fainted

Despite being a doctor and working through her residency at one of the greatest hospitals in the country, my best friend Sam does indeed have her own version of kryptonite: robots. Sam, stop reading. You’re not going to like this.

According to wired.com, scientists at the Georgia Insitute of Technology have actually taught robots how to deceive people and each other (apparently these guys have never seen iRobot). Through a game of seemingly simple hide-and-seek, researchers Ronald Arkin and Alan Wagner were able to prove that one robot – the “hider” – could leave a false path, sending the “seeker” robot in the wrong direction. The hider was able to fool the seeker 75 percent of the time.

You Mean Bridal Showers Don’t Always End in a Singing Parade?

My cousin Lindsey’s getting married! And this weekend was her shower at the Hudson House in Cold Spring, NY. True to form, my aunts, cousins, cousin’s fiances and cousin’s girlfriends stayed about three hours later than everyone else, sharing stories and obviously, serenading a set of twins down on the Hudson River. There was a set list, I just can’t remember what it was. And the little girls loved it. Their parents however were totally creeped out.

Congratulations to Lindsey and Chris! I hope you enjoy the percolator.

PS – I want it noted and documented that the dress I’m wearing is from ninth grade. This is what happens when things don’t get picked up from the dry cleaners and all of your other clothes are in Boston. Ninth grade!

Friends, Food and Football

Mo, Me and Kelly Luken.

Finally, I went to my first football game of the season! Unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing losses I’ve ever seen at Michie Stadium. Despite coming back from a 21-0 start, the Black Knights were unable to hold on to the ball with less than a minute to go, and Hawaii broke the tie with a field goal, winning the game. Ugh. But alas, this is what tailgates are for, as Army fans know best.

Also helping was having two of my favorite BC girls in tow – Mo Cooke and Kelly Luken! Mo came up to West Point on a work field trip (which are awesome by the way, every office should have them), and Kelly came from Long Island with her family for their annual West Point visit. A perfect storm of Eagles! I even got to show Mo and her work buddies South Gate. No trip to an Army football game is complete without a trip to the best bar in town (sorry Fireside, you’re second).

Hopefully Army can pull out a few more wins this season (they are 1-1), because they did look good on Saturday, despite the loss. ‘Til the next game cadets!
