As the reigning champion of the annual Ocean Avenue Cornhole Tournament, I feel it is my duty to let you guys know that you can actually toss those beanbags in the air for a good cause this weekend.

On Saturday, May 22, the Boston Athletic Club will play host to the first annual Cornhole for a Cause MS Fundraiser, where 128 teams will compete and raise money for the National MS Society. Proceeds will also go to sponsoring a team in the 150-mile MS Cape Cod Getaway in June.

All We Can Do in Life is ‘Pay it Forward’

Lori Moscato Cover photo courtesy of P3 Boost magazine.

Three years ago, my cousin Lori found out she and her husband Rob were pregnant with their first child. While this is a happy occasion for any would-be parents, it was an extra-special time for them, as they had struggled with infertility for years before finally trying in-vitro fertilization. Lori gave birth to Sophia nine-months later, and just fourth months after that (surprise!) the couple found out they were pregnant once again, this time naturally, with baby Ryan.

This is truly a miracle story, but Lori and Rob, as well as millions of couples around the world trying to have a baby of their own, know that not everyone gets such a wonderful outcome. Which is why Lori and Rob began the Pay it Forward Fertility Foundation, to help couples like themselves fund the in-vitro process and hopefully, end up as lucky and fortunate as they were.

This month, Lori is the cover girl for P3 Power Boost magazine, and this is my shameless plug of her and Rob, and all the wonderful things they are doing to help couples who truly want to bring a child into the world. Thank you guys, for everything you’re doing!

Help Keep Little Kids Thinking Jesus is their Homeboy

Having attended and graduated from a small (11-kids-in-my-class small) Catholic school that was once in serious danger of closing, I applaud grocery magnate Patrick Roche and his wife for donating $20 million in support of Catholic education in Boston.

Not only did I receive a top-notch education while attending Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Highland Falls, NY, I learned to truly care about other people. Many of the friends I made at that school are still my friends to this day, 20 years later.

After threatening to close the school when I was in fifth grade, Bishop John O’Connor himself made a visit, shook hands with every single child, spoke with us and talked to the administration, and decided against it. Sacred Heart went on to receive Middle States accreditation, among other honors, as well as expand its after-school sports and arts programs.

Support your local Catholic schools. Who knows? Your child may grow up to be a blogger AND a good person.
