Yay! After last week’s disappointing gain, it’s so nice to see the work pay off this week. I’m half way through (4 weeks down, 4 to go) and I’m near my goal. Between Zumba, running and the elliptical, this was the week of the workout. Add to that my new second job, and eating has kind of become superfluous, you know? Get it tight, get it right – here’s how it went:
Thursday: After a disappointing weigh in I was pretty unmotivated. I went home from work and ate a whole thing of hummus. Ok, not a whole container, but a lot and it made me feel like this: ugh. So at around 8pm I went for a run/walk, and by run/walk I mean the kind of workout where you run when there are hot guys nearby and you walk when you turn the corner. It’s kind of like sprinting the straights and walking the curves, except the girl version. Example, I run so fast by Cityside and the Publick House I could beat Usain Bolt in a race. Fact.
Friday: A trip home for the weekend means I can either wake up ass early and go for a run, or not workout at all. I’m not a morning person, so it was not working out for this girl. Instead, I ate early, before I left Boston, so that I wasn’t starving when I finally got to NY. Having dinner before I left pushed my trip back a bit, but that just meant less traffic, which was awesome. When I got home, I went straight to the South Gate and met Mo Cooke and Co. Word of advice – always make yourself the designated driver if you don’t want to drink a lot and waste your WW points. It will give you purpose, and you won’t be too pissed about not getting to do tequila shots with everyone else.
Saturday: Football means tailgating and tailgating means eating and drinking. There’s just no way around it. So to balance that out, I walked everywhere I had to go on Saturday: Home to Buffalo Soldier Field, BSF to AAA Lot, AAA Lot to Michie Stadium, Michie to AAA Lot, AAA Lot to BSF. Thank God the Luken’s drove me back to AAA lot on their way out of town. My legs were about to fall off, for reals.
Sunday: Bridal showers may be my favorite thing in the world, because there’s cake. Cake can negate anything, like making wedding dresses out of toilet paper or watching people open presents (actually, my cousin Lindsey’s shower was pretty perfect). On top of that, the Hudson House had this crazy croissant muffin bread that I’ve never seen before that may be the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I downed mine in 4 seconds, and then ate Nik’s. Good thing we have these new cousins to share their food with me. I only drank water, trying to be good, but Sunday was a wash.
Monday: My mom has a new treadmill in what used to be my bedroom and she thinks it’s the greatest thing in the world. I completely resent it, along with the fact that I have nowhere to sleep when I come home, but I used it regardless. I can sleep when I’m dead.
Tuesday: Zumba! This was my first time back since the South End extravaganza, but this time I went to Central Square. New teacher, different yet equally awesome experience. The instructor looked exactly like my cousin Fallon, and kept checking herself out in the mirror, but she was so upbeat and fun that I decided this was endearing rather than annoying. There were points in this class I felt like I was in a strip club, but you know what? It was a good workout and I was dripping sweat, so don’t hate.
Wednesday: First night of bball work in Somerville! I ate dinner early, and I have to say, that’s half the battle. If you can eat dinner before 7pm, it almost doesn’t matter what it was you ate. You’ll probably burn the majority of it off just breathing for the next 3 or so hours. And drink water. Lots and lots!
