Classic, Random Laughter

Three years ago I was stuck in a graduate school newsroom with some of the craziest people I have ever met in my entire life. And if they’re reading this right now, they know I mean that as a compliment. Our days were spent either furiously writing in order to make deadline, or furiously searching Google and YouTube for the most awesome things ever. Rap lyrics represented in statistical charts and graphs is one of them (thank you Audrey for the blast from the past).

If I haven’t said it enough to you former BUDC-ers, I love you like a fat kid loves cake. Real talk, and there’s a bar graph to prove it.

I hear Zoo Bar is awaiting our glorious return.

Ok, this is one of my favorite holidays, mostly because my two favorite things in the world are margaritas and chips. What’s even more interesting? Cinco de Mayo is only really celebrated in the Mexican state of Puebla and the United States. WTF? Either we Americans really hate the French, or we’ll really use any excuse to drink and eat chips (seriously, two of my favorite things.)

The Worst Terrorist Ever?

Shahzad from a Facebook photo. Photo courtesy of the Huffington Post

Now, I want to preface this post by saying Saturday’s Times Square Bomb Scare could have had disastrous effects. Not only could there have been deaths involved, but catastrophic consequences for the rest of the world. With that said, a lot of this story is just not sitting right with me, and I can’t help but thinking that Faisal Shahzad might be the worst terrorist ever.

First, and most importantly, Shahzad’s plan fizzled out along with the bomb he tried to detonate. I don’t know a lot about bombs, so I can’t really say that they are 100 percent foolproof, but to add insult to injury, Shahzad parked his Nissan Pathfinder right in front of a NY street vendor. Are you serious? Those guys have been at their posts for years and – even on the busiest block on the planet – know when something is out of place. Shahzad loses points for the faulty bomb, but even more for not doing his location scout.
