Clips with Coach: NOW THAT THE MADNESS IS OVER

Yes, the Championship Game was certainly not what we had hoped for, but the 2010-11 College Basketball season was terrific! UConn’s run will have to go down as the best ever – I’m not a math guy, but I don’t believe it’s possible to win more than 11 games in a post-season. Butler getting back to the Championship Game is an accomplishment that should not go unnoticed. And 70,356 people attending the final game will be hard to match.

We also had VCU reaching the Final Four, probably replacing George Mason as the most recognizable modern Cinderella. Jimmer Fredette won the Naismith Award, and singlehandedly carried his BYU team to national prominence. So, what could we possibly do to make the GAME better? We need to clean-up the image.

Clips with Coach: TODAY IS THE DAY

No, not St. Patrick’s Day (although obviously also awesome), but the real start of NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (play-in games do not count because no one can figure out how they are set). Editor’s Note: And why are they always in Dayton?

There is probably some mathematical skill to calculate how often the Tournament starts on St. Patty’s Day (perhaps the editor has those skills). Editor’s Note: I do not. But it’s safe to say that productivity around the world has slowed while the office pools are selected to pick the Final Four and ultimate Champion.

College Basketball is My First Love

Two play-in games down, two to go until the official beginning of March Madness. I’m seriously jumping out of my skin. Tomorrow and Friday will be the two greatest days of the year, when the world is overwhelmed by college basketball from every corner. I mean, people have literally combusted on the spot at the sheer thought of it. Ok, that’s an exaggeration. Rein it in, Kelly Ann.

Last week I headed to NYC and New Haven for some great college bball games. My dad and I saw the first day of Big East conference tournament play – watching the future champs UConn wipe out DePaul, Rutgers top Seton Hall in overtime, USF beat ‘Nova on a last second shot and Marquette trounce Providence (which later led to the demise of Keno Davis at PC; word of the day: demise).
