How “Solo” Can You Go: Your Weekly Dancing with the Stars Recap

Four couples. Four shows. Two weeks. I can’t believe this season of Dancing with the Stars has gone by so fast!

With that said, it seems there are always three couples who shine and one that just eeked its way into the semis. This season, that eek-er would be Chad Ochocinco. The clear favorite is Nicole Scherzinger, with Evan Lysacek nipping at her heels. And of course, Erin Andrews cannot be overlooked, although she did have a week in the bottom two in the not-so-distant past.

Tonight, the stars will again dance two dances, a ballroom dance and a Latin one. Tonight is also the night where the stars have to dance for 15 seconds without their partners. Yikes! Let’s get this mother going!

Dancing Through the Decades: Your Weekly DWTS Recap

Tonight the dancers will perform TWO complete routines, one with a certain decade theme! Remember Joanna and Derek’s futuristic Paso Doble from last season (vid above!)? Phenomenal. There are only five couples left, and next week is the semi-finals (already? I can’t believe it), so let’s start that sprint to the finish line.

BALLROOM ROUND

Chad Ochocinco, Tango: I’m excited for this! Chad does a great masculine dance, and has good footwork. His butt’s sticking out a little. Every mistake counts people! It was a little all over the place and Chad looks a little disappointed. “Good attack,” says Len, but it needed a little more “polish.” Agreed. Chad’s not off to a great start, and his Jive later may suffer.
Score: 7, 7, 7

Niecy Nash, Viennese Waltz: If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 100 times. This dance is so boring. But Niecy just livened it up with a beautiful spin! She’s gliding across the floor! She looks like rainbow sherbet, but good for her! That was really cute, and light and fun. Ugh, Carrie Ann has to be such a downer. Talking about transitions and yada, yada.

Translation: Darrin’s Dance Grooves Leads to Dancing with the Stars

So, Erin Andrews and I haven’t been seeing eye to eye on a lot of things lately. Namely, I don’t like her dancing and she has no idea who I am and doesn’t care. But I (or to be honest, People magazine) may have found just the thing to help us put our differences aside and come to some kind of peaceful truce.

Ten years ago, I was a stocky, awkward sophomore in high school who liked Dawson’s Creek, playing basketball, and teaching myself how to dance with the Darrin’s Dance Grooves VHS tape my friend Sam got me for Christmas. From the looks of this video, Erin Andrews is part nerd, just like me (you have to wait ’til about the 44 second mark).
