An Open Letter to My Voice, Which Has Gone Missing

Dear My Voice,

It’s been 4 days since you left, and I can safely say that they’ve been the hardest 4 days of my life. I know that I’ve put you through a lot in the past few weeks, but I don’t think that this is any reason to abandon our relationship. I really think we can make this work.

I’m sorry for sleeping with the air conditioner on. I know how you hate that. I’m sorry for that terrible rendition of Janis Joplin’s Me and Bobby Magee on the bus back from RJ’s wedding. It was pitchy at best. I’m sorry for recounting my life story to that random couple at Tavern in the Square Friday night. I was drunk and, I know that’s no excuse, and I fully admit it was wrong. It was right around that time when we were last together. So I’m guessing that was the last straw for you.

Awkward Interactions with the Boston Fire Department in the Middle of the Night

It’s 2:30 am. You’re innocently asleep in your bed thinking you’re going to be getting at least another four hours of shut eye. That is until a loud shrieking starts coming from your front hall. At first you brush it off as part of a dream. Then you think maybe it’s outside. Then, fully awake, you realize it’s your carbon monoxide detector, and that you’re about to die. This was me last night.

Bridesmaids: Kristen Wiig’s Answer to Christopher Hitchens

So, you think we're not funny?

We all know that Christopher Hitchens doesn’t think women are funny. Either that or he wrote a Swiftonian-esque proposal in that January 2007 edition of Vanity Fair. Either way, his disdain was palpable.

Like any other 20-something female you may run into this week, I went and saw the movie Bridesmaids over the weekend. And after resurrecting Hitchens’ opinion piece online today, I can’t help but picture Kristen Wiig, four years ago, throwing this particular issue of VF across the room, sitting down at her laptop and ultimately penning what, by general consensus, has become the funniest “chick flick” of all time, because it seems to me that Wiig has taken every point that Hitchens tried to make and blew it right out of the water. And has done so in heels, no less.
