Beware the Ides of March

So, I thought I had a ghost. That may sound like a crazy statement, but it’s true. And while I thought the first haunting might have been a fluke, we’ve now had two encounters, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that he is very real and very much involved in my life.

In early 2010, I took a walk over to the old “Transportation Building” (now a food court) to get a coffee. In between the ATM and the Dunkin’ Donuts, a large flat screen TV has been installed in the wall, and it’s almost always playing Headline News. This particular morning, they were doing a story about US soldiers in Iraq playing flag football. I lingered a bit watching the piece, mostly to avoid going back to work, and after a minute or two, a man who I assumed to be homeless joined me. When the news piece ended, he turned to face me, pointed his finger in my face, looked me dead in the eyes and repeated three times: “West Point.”

The Incredible Snoring Kingston

A big thank you to my cousin RJ for letting me crash at his apartment for the Big East tournament this week. Darge – you’re the best!

With that said, RJ has a 3-year-old bulldog named Kingston, who I absolutely 100 percent adore, but who can snore like a mother-effer. Every night around midnight, Kingston mysteriously finds his squeaky chew toy, which he hasn’t noticed at all during the rest of the day. Monday night, King carried that thing around for about an hour before he finally settled down. At some point during the night I rolled over on it in the aerobed. At another point in the night, Kingston jumped off the couch and onto my head. And then I woke up in the morning to the ruckus you hear above.

But look at his face! I can’t be mad!! I also liked when he thought my hair straightener was attacking me while I was packing and came flying out of nowhere to protect me from what I’m assuming he saw as a cord/choking hazard.

Can someone please buy me a puppy? They’re too freakin’ cute.

The Year of the Blog: NoMad is Turning One!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the creation of this blog, and I just wanted to thank all of our readers for your comments, your ideas and your overall support. You rock!

Since March 4, 2010, we’ve received more than 50,000 total views, and have been Freshly Pressed five times! I’m sure we’re not breaking any records here, but for something I created to be more like a personal notebook than anything else, I have to say those numbers are pretty cool. And, while I certainly can’t pick out a favorite post (come on! these are like my children), I can say that I’ve had fun writing each and every one of them (except Clips for Coach; those are all Denny).
