Quote of the Day

I get this feeling that the Sportscenter Rundown guy might actually be Tyler Neville:

When The Rundown was (technically) on the high school basketball team, messing around at the (very) end of the bench, waiting to get into the (well, any) game, Coach told us three things:
1. Stop messing around at the end of the bench. (In fact, what he actually told us was, “Stop making babies down there,” which didn’t really help his cause too much, honestly.)
2. Make your free throws.
3. Don’t save the ball from going out of bounds underneath your own basket.
But because Missouri is coached by Mike Anderson and not Bob Barker (not that one), maybe they weren’t told these things, because they erased an 18-point halftime lead by Georgetown only to miss three of four free throws in the last 19 seconds, then save the ball underneath their own basket, then watch Chris Wright to drain a three-pointer at the death that sent the game into overtime. Then, in overtime, Jason Clark hit three three-pointers to personally outscore the No. 8 Tigers, and the No. 14 Hoyas left Kansas City with the 111-102 upset win.

He’s so informative.

The Road to the Final Four Begins Today

Can you hear it now: do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do….sorry, that’s the best way I know how to write out the CBS Final Four instrumental theme song. I’m a blogger not a musician. Anyway, can you believe it? College basketball practice starts today, and it seems like only yesterday I was recapping this, and this and this.

Last year at this time I was in West Virginia, celebrating the Mountaineers’ Midnight Madness. And they made it to the Final Four. So I’m pretty much magic. This year I’ll be at my cousin’s rehearsal dinner (I know, my priorities are very messed up right now). So I guess this means the season is anyone’s for the taking.

My Quest to Become a Professional Basketball Manager is Underway

I just have to say, girl’s makin’ some serious bank. I started my 467th job this week, and this one just might be my favorite. I’m working for the basketball leagues at the Cambridge Athletic Club, and they’re pretty legit. I think there are 170 teams (men’s, women’s and co-ed) and they hire stat keepers (me) to do write-ups of every game. Super serious.

Check it out here: cacbasketball.com – and click on women’s 5v5 A and 4v4 B1 West F10 (those are mine!). If you’re in the Boston area and want to play, give me a shout!
