My First Trip to the U.S. Open

After almost four whole years in Manhattan, I’m still crossing items off my NYC bucket list, and last night was no exception! For the first time EVER, I traveled all the way to Flushing Meadows for the U.S. Open. The Unisphere? Saw it. The World’s Fair observation towers? They’re there too. Also, tennis, you guys. It’s great.

I consider myself an avid tennis fan, though I’ve never played an organized match and I really have no idea about the game’s strategy. But I do know things: Wimbledon is grass and all whites. Andre Agassi had a spectacular mullet. Serena is the GOAT (even if FiveThirtyEight says otherwise). And Andy Murray and Kim Sears are the Will and Kate of the tennis set.

Scotland 2014: A Video Diary

Oh hey, guys. It’s been awhile, and I’d like to say I spent the whole time working on this video, but that would be a lie, and I can’t lie to you all. Please welcome me back. Thank you.

As probably most of you know, my mom, dad, and I travelled to Scotland in July for the Turnbull Gathering, a family reunion of my mom’s “clan” in Hawick, Scotland. As the legend goes, our clan chief, way back when, turned a charging bull away from Robert the Bruce, king of Scotland, saving his life. The clan chief was then knighted Sir Turn the Bull, and hence my mom received her maiden name. The Turnbulls are a rare breed, and it was so nice to meet so many of them from all corners of the world: Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada, etc.

Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

A day late, but not a dollar short.

I don’t really know where I’m going with that except that I am a day late with this post, and I apologize. The Fourth of July got the better of me, and it took an entire extra day to recuperate. I even took off from work. It was serious.

This is the week me and my family leave for Scotland, and I couldn’t be more excited! I could probably write this entire blog post about our trip, but I’ll refrain until it’s actually here, or until we come back and I actually have stories to tell.
