The Most Terrifying Thing I’ve Seen Today

I admit, it’s a little too early to make this call, but the above picture might be the most terrifying thing I’ve seen all YEAR, let alone just today, so I’m gonna go out on that proverbial limb. What. The Hell. Is Going. On.

Apparently, this sinkhole in Guatemala City ate an entire building over the weekend. In one gulp. It’s like me and a Chipotle burrito. Between this, that unpronounceable volcano and the oil spill (alright, that was man’s fault really) it’s getting too scary to go outside!

Ummm, what?? Does anyone else find this statement profoundly disturbing?? While I understand the use of Twitter as a promotional tool, I pulled a Miley Cyrus and got off the bandwagon a while ago. I even set up this blog so that it automatically posts each entry to Twitter, and I don’t need to bothered with it’s inanity. So the fact that someone has the time to tweet while being “immediately fired” upon is absolutely absurd to me.

I’m not entirely sure why, but this whole “blogger having an affair with South Carolina gubernatorial candidate” story is giving me a good chuckle. Today’s lesson: how to get a good scoop via texts and social media.

Not to toot my own horn, but I have my master’s in journalism. I was a reporter for more than three years while in grad school and afterwards. I’ve covered Congress. I’ve won awards (ok, I’m tooting my own horn a little), and I would NEVER…EVER…send the following text message:
