Gaga for Theresa

Gaga's thinking of more things Theresa can make for her.

My friends are way cooler than I am.

On Wednesday, I received an e-mail that one of my oldest amigas, Theresa Dapra, had created a costume piece for Lady Gaga. YES! That Lady Gaga. And it was worn during her performance at Elton John’s recent benefit concert! Check it out in the pic. I’m freaking out! This is the coolest thing ever – and completely deserving of the praise.

I’ve never had to prove how amazing Theresa Dapra is, but since some of you reading this don’t know her, I will explain. I’ve known Reese since I was about 5-years old. We grew up going to the same babysitter – her aunt – after school. And through the years I’ve watched her morph from a child into this beautiful, awesome, creative, completely individual person who I’ve respected and stood in awe of for quite some time.

If you had told us during our bus stop chats that one day she would be doing what she’s doing and getting such high praise for her talents, I would have definitely believed it. Congrats Theresa. Love you girl!

Chicago is One Town That Won’t Let You Down

Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

So it’s been a little over a week since I got back from Chicago, but I still think the pics, and the experience, are blogworthy, and therefore need to be posted.

Since my best friend Sam is now Dr. Sam, and began her residency at Rush Hospital June 28, it was only right that I go visit her before our friendship takes a four-year hiatus (Sam I miss you!). Her apartment, which lies right on the Chicago River, is sick, with floor-to-ceiling windows, granite counters and stainless steel appliances. Quite a move up from her’s and her husband Patrick’s one bedroom on Long Island. Congrats guys!

The Ultimate Summer Saturday

Houses on Edgartown Harbor

There once was a time that a Saturday during the summer was spent in cool AC watching cartoons and drinking Cokes. For some reason, as an adult, that just doesn’t cut it, and just this past Saturday, with the sun hot and the breeze cool, me, my mom and Miss Katie Poff decided to take a trip to Martha’s Vineyard, where the beach, big houses and bike trails awaited us!

Waking up at 6 a.m. isn’t exactly my cup of tea, especially when physical activity awaits me at the other end, but I knew the temperature on Martha’s Vineyard was going to be a strong 85, and I’ve been waiting all winter for some ocean views. We arrived at Woods Hole around 9 a.m., parked ourselves in the Gifford Street lot, and shuttled down to the waterfront ferry with two guys discussing the best squid to catch fluke with (one of which in a Harley Davidson leather jacket – so many things wrong there).
