Scenes from the Green Line

I spend a lot of time waiting for the T to show up. And while I try my best to fill those monotonous 10-15 minutes by coming up with some actual life goals or even an idea of what I should make myself for dinner, more often than not my attention is turned to the ridiculous advertisements the MBTA still insists on displaying. The one above is case and point.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love burritos definitely more than as much as the next girl, and the possibility that they can be delivered to me during my workday is tantamount to a religious experience (Sidenote: there is another Boloco going in on Boylston Street; am I the only person in Boston that holds Chipotle in such a high regard?). However…what the EFF is going on in this picture???? I am at the same time bothered and intrigued by it. And you know what that means…Reenactment time!

Panera Bread vs. Au Bon Pain: Back Bay Edition

The greatest thing ever happened to me yesterday.

On a walk to Borders bookstore on Boylston Street, I passed a sign that altered my everyday existence: Panera Bread is coming to Boston’s Back Bay. I’m pretty sure there were beams of light and angels singing around the storefront window. Unfortunately that didn’t show up in the picture.

I’ve been asking God (and for the past month I’ve turned my wishes on Santa) for a Panera Bread close to my office for a year now. The closest thing to it, a Cosi, is 1.1 miles away, according to Google Maps. I once made all the girls in my office take a field trip there on our lunch breaks. Four set out on the journey, only two made it there and back. Clearly, we were putting our lives on the line for delicious flatbreads.

Top Chef All Stars isn’t F-ing Around

If we’ve learned anything from last night’s episode of Top Chef All Stars, it’s that a) chefs are deathly afraid of children and b) anyone, and I mean anyone, can go home.

In the Quickfire challenge, the cheftestants were asked to prepare a snack for little kids staying over at the American Natural History Museum, guest starring Joe Jonas. Asian Dale: “I had no idea who Joe Jonas was. I thought he might have been a pastry chef?” And then Dale stole all the sugar and everyone got pissy about it.
