If Bristol Makes it Through Tonight’s DWTS Elimination, Sarah Palin Will Be Our Next President

Isn’t America just one big reality competition anyway?

Yes, I’m projecting that, should Bristol Palin’s unfathomable rise through the TV landscape continue after tonight, her mother, Sarah Palin, will be elected president in 2012. And in case you thought I’d just throw that statement out there with nothing to back it up (which I do on occasion), here are my reasons:

1. Conservative/Christian voters: After 8 weeks of dancing (and countless years watching the show), I’m fairly certain that Bristol’s fanbase is everyone in Alaska (minus maybe Levi Johnston) and all registered Republicans. Should she move through to next week and say, Kurt Warner gets the boot, she will probably pick up the Christian sect, which might just make her unstoppable. Sound like any Tina Fey look-alikes we know? On top of that, I’m sure there’s some people out there that vote for Bristol in the hopes that she’ll fall flat on her face, and some fun can be made at her expense. Again, the same could probably be said for her mother.

How Much Would You Pay Me to Wear This Dress to My Cousin’s Wedding?

The Carroll Family at Uncle Tom and Aunt Eileen's Wedding, 1993. You know you love this picture.

Ok, not the floral one I’m so elegantly sporting in the pic above (but that can be arranged too since it still fits) but the spicy black number my mom is rocking. Hard.

Those that know me know I’ve been obsessed with this dress since the day it fatefully entered into our lives, and I’m getting the feeling (mostly because I don’t want to go shopping) that it needs to come out of retirement Dec. 4.

But I do need a little coaxing, because this dress…it’s a lot of look. The last time I tried to pull it off was when I was invited to my cousin Matt’s graduation dinner at West Point. I was promptly disinvited until I could find something more appropriate to wear. To say I was disappointed would be grossly understated.

Help Salesian High School Send Care Packages to the Troops

I’m usually on the other side when it comes to caring about Notre Dame (as in I’m usually on the side that wants to beat the Fighting Irish), but since this is for a good cause, I’ll support it.

Salesian High School in New Rochelle, NY (nickname “the Eagles” – they know who to represent) will be collecting items to send to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for Thanksgiving. Items include, but are not limited to: granola bars, oatmeal packets, cereal, candy, Ramen Noodles and pop tarts (and can I get a care package as well?). SHS is working in conjunction with Notre Dame’s New York Alumni Chapter in its Operation Gratitude, which is also part of the Notre Dame-Army football game, which is being played at Yankee Stadium on Nov. 20.

Donations can be made to:

Salesian High School
148 East Main Street
New Rochelle, NY 10801

Or you can email me at nomadblog.wordpress@gmail.com for more info. Donations should be received on or around Nov. 10.
