Royal Wedding Week!

© Press Association

Oh. My. God. It’s finally here – the royal wedding of the century will commence early Friday morning, and the whole world is gearing up for the big day. I can’t tell you how excited I am. Seriously, can NOT tell you.

And because of my obsession, I’m officially declaring it Royal Wedding Week on NoMad Blog, and I will dedicate a post a day to the festivities. While I may not be a royal authority, I’ve pretty much read everything there is to read about Kate Middleton, Prince William, the royal family, Lady Di, British history, British royal history, and weddings, so my knowledge is in fact scholarly.

Today, I give you a video of my first and only visit to London, a place I would go again in a heartbeat. Pay special attention to Westminster Abbey and the road to Buckingham Palace – these will be the most important parts of the wedding day.

Breaking: Chipotle and I are Headed for Divorce

I know. You all thought it was a match made in heaven four years back when I was first introduced to Chipotle by Audrey Marks and Phil Mattingly during an outing in Washington, DC. I did too. I thought we were going to be together forever. Me, with my voracious appetite for junk food, and Chipotle, with its more-than-enough-for-one-person burritos and chips. But alas, the past two weeks have really tested our relationship, and the bond just wasn’t as strong as I had once thought it to be.

Two weeks ago I hopped off the T in Cleveland Circle and headed into Chipotle for my Thursday night burrito, which has become a ritual over the past few months since on Thursdays I need to eat dinner quickly and then head over to j-o-b number two at the YMCA. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, and hey, since it’s good to be alive I had them throw in a bag of chips. I ate the burrito, changed into my bball attire and left, feeling good and secure about our relationship.

To Nana, with Love Always

For those of you who knew her, you knew and admired how strong Nana was. And another word for strong could be tough. Nana at both times was our biggest advocate and our most honest critic.

She never minced words when it came to the clothes we wore, the way we did our hair, the people we dated or our manners at the dinner table. And while I’m sure we may have rolled our eyes, it was the biggest lessons Nana taught us by example.

If someone needed her, she moved in. If someone needed a place to live, she opened her doors. The most important thing in Nana’s life was creating a home for her family, and that home has become a haven for us all. It’s the place we grew up together. It’s the place we still go to feel safe. And it’s the place all 30 of us camped out for a week as we slowly said our goodbyes to Nana.

And so today we want to say thank you to her. Thank you Nana for being so strong. Thank you for teaching us what it means to take care of people. And most of all, thank you for showing us all what can happen when two people fall in love.
